Visit of the Hungarian Consul General to the Stutthof Museum in Sztutowo
Today, Piotr Tarnowski, Director of the Stutthof Museum in Sztutowo, and Dr. Pál Attila Illés, the Hungarian Consul General, discussed memory, history, and plans for future collaboration in the fields of education and exhibitions.
The Consul arrived at our institution accompanied by Consul Otto Sipos.
In addition to the discussions, the delegation toured the Museum grounds and paid tribute to the victims of the Stutthof concentration camp by laying a wreath at the Monument to the Struggle and Martyrdom.
It is estimated that several thousand prisoners of KL Stutthof were Hungarian citizens, the majority of whom were of Jewish descent. According to the findings of Dr. Danuta Drywa, this number was around 15,000 people, primarily women.
