Training for Licensed Guides

Annual training sessions for certified guides at the Stutthof Museum in Sztutowo have become a tradition for our institution. On December 14, we gathered not only to deepen our knowledge of the history of the Stutthof camp and the fate of its prisoners but also to discuss plans for future cooperation between the Museum and the guides.

During this year’s training, Museum staff prepared six presentations. Ewa Malinowska, the Head of the Education Department, discussed the methodology of guiding tours at Memorial Sites and the specifics of the groups visiting the Museum. Bogusława Tartakowska, the Curator for Collections, highlighted the importance of exhibits and museum objects in the work of a guide. Meanwhile, Dr. Robert Domżał presented the role of archaeological research in understanding the history of the Stutthof concentration camp.

Łukasz Kępski presented the pre-war history of the Żuławy and Vistula Spit, including the attitude of the residents of the Vistula Delta, particularly the Mennonites, towards National Socialism. Dr. Danuta Drywa, the Head of the Documentation Department, shared the fate of the Catholic clergy in Pomerania during the early years of World War II. Meanwhile, Dr. Kordian Kuczma spoke about the fate of Protestant prisoners at the Stutthof concentration camp.

We would like to thank all the participants for their attendance, inspiring conversations, and their commitment to creating the  #KoalicjaPamięci (Memory Coalition).
